Energetic Gifts Series: Nurturance

The longer I live, observe and experiment with life, I am totally convinced that we are here as human beings to balance the powerful and magnificent energies of the Most High. My hero, Jesus the Christ called them 'fruits of the Spirit'.

I believe that we either enter our life possessing some or all of these energetic gifts or come here to learn them. I also believe, we will ALL eventually learn to harness and use these energy to create more responsibility. Some have a very long way to go in learning, but if you are reading this column, nine times out of ten, you are not a virgin to these concepts an you are aware of the power that is within you.

I am an old soul, and believe with every fiber of my being that this is my last incarnation as a physical being, so I came to life with all of the gifts of the Spirit already activated. Therefore, my soul assignment has been coming into balance with these dynamic energies and to stream line them in a way to create haven on earth for me and for those that are in my life.

For some damn reason, the gift that has been the hardest to master has been the gift of nurturance. Yes, to nurturer is an energetic gift that is very important. Why is the ability to nurture so important and difficult to master?

Let's look at what it means to nurturer. Nurturer is the act or process of raising or promoting the development of; training, educating, fostering, etc. according to Webster dictionary definition. Nurturance is a feminine energy that seeks to create and sustain life. Although this energy is feminine in its origin, it is not a female quality, men most definitely have the ability to hurturer as well.

I think that is obvious to all of us as to why nurturance is important, but not everyone is aware of what it takes to be a master nurturer.

As with all energetic gifts, they come with both a masculine and feminine aspect to them. The masculine or yang includes such attributes as outward, hard, firm, logical, strong, rational, rough, loud. The feminine or yin includes such attributes as receptive, intuitive, inward, sensitive, delicate, emotional, nurturing. If one person over identifies with either energy they create severe imbalances in their ability to create.

When one approaches the energy of nurturance from a purely feminine aspect, the results are disastrous. Since the feminine energy is expansive, creative and without any real form due to its operations as a receiver, without its masculine energy counterpart to add form and structure , nurturing becomes smoothing, manipulative and enmeshment. The very object of nurturance becomes sick and dysfunctional. You will find yourself seeking out "projects" or in my case people who are "broken" to take care of or to fix. But because I was not aware of how to balance that energy and use it as a stabilizing force to promote growth and sustainability, I'd spin out of control and my creations would reach a certain point and then fizzle out, bringing me to my knees in grief and frustration.

Once I was able to understand that this energy must be balanced with the masculine aspects of firmness, rationality, logic and sometimes a bit of 'toughness', then and only then was I able to have sharp laser like focus in my ability to nurturer from the spirit.

One of the greatest challenges to women is to truly understand that we are in truth both feminine and masculine in our energetic make up and that our female physical body is an earth suit, another vehicle of Divine expression, not the end all to be all! Of course, society promotes each gender to overidentify with one or the other energetic aspects, in my estimation, to keep us asleep spiritually, therefore as women awaken to their spiritual power we must keep in the forefront of our consciousness both the yin and yang in us.

Men have challenges as well with balancing this energy. Let's face it, there aren't many public exemplifies of a man that is energetically balanced! But, with this shift of consciousness that is currently taking place in all corners of the planet, we will begin to see more men standing up and being real men, Men who can e seamlessly go from rocking the rims of a basketball hoop to rocking his infant child.

If you are struggling with symptoms of 'the need to please', 'superwoman or super man' or better yet, 'the fix it girl or guy'. Please believe that the root cause of this out of control energy is the application of some masculinity. It's time to grow some energetic balls so that you use this wonderful gift with effectiveness and power!
